Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs)
What
An EPC is a certificate that indicated the amount of energy (power) used per square meter in a building. It looks like one you get on appliances
Law
Since December 2025, it has become law that Commercial Buildings that are over 2000m2 require an EPC in accordance with the National Energy Act 2020. They are required for the following occupancy classes: Office, Places of Instruction, Entertainment, Public Assembly, Theatre and Indoor Sport
+
Benefits of having an EPC done (by Donna Green) include knowing how much energy is consumed and where savings can be made. Understanding the building design on an energy level, we can advise on alternative energy sources like solar based on the consumption requirements from the EPC and the roof space of the building.
When the EPC building inspection is done, the building owner can get a consultation on property, design and maximizing the potential of the building.
